Around the island in less than a day

Ryan's cousin came to Oahu to run the Honolulu Marathon. In their short stay on Oahu, we took them on a 220mile round island tour from sunrise to sunset.  Here are a few shots from around the island.

Moon and Venus

I heard that Venus was visible this morning by the moon.  Here are pics that I took around 5:30am HST.

Kaneohe Bay Air show - Blue Angels

Ryan heard the Blue Angels were coming to Kaneohe Bay Marine Corp Base and thought I may enjoy it.   He was right...it was a great time and fun to photograph!  We splurged for the xxxx tickets - included all you can eat, drink and under a tent right where the Angels park and fighter jets part in front of the runway.  It was also great to see and learn about mock combat missions and the skill and tactics used in various situations.

1 of the 6 Blue Angels performing today.

The pilots stretching before action

While the Blue Angels were preparing, there was a pre-show by many other awesome pilots as well as various branch of service demonstrations!

The plane circled the paratroopers as they made their entrance from the air. This flag made its entrance as the National Anthem was sung.
More of the plane's circles before the entrance.

Took a few attempts but he landed this plane on top this moving truck.

One of the pre-show planes made a heart from their smoke

A ritual before each of them took off.

This plane carries all the Blue Angels between destinations.

These four did simultaneous maneuvers.

These two did all of the goofing around...including this flying at each other, barely missing with one upside down.

Around town

Just how "baked" were these owners when they decided to start a bakery?  I'm guessing they are surfers.
There must be a movie crew coming out going.  Saw a caravan of 2 5th wheel star wagons and at least 7 traditions star wagons heading through downtown.
We attended a networking event at HiHR, an HR and payroll solution here in HI. They sponsored a Las Vegas style party with open bar and pupus in their penthouse suite and roof.  It was an awesome night with front row beautiful views of the sunset...not to mention we could see our house from the top floor.

October 2015

This bird was hanging outside Burger King on Schofield Base.  Not sure if it is part of the spotted thick-knee family?

A military chopper coming in for a landing.

Diamond was sporting the greenest look we've ever seen.
The cruise ship port faces traffic coming off of Bishop street downtown.  Always an amusing view when a few vehicles back.

While at a networking function in the Topa Financial Center Penthouse, we walked out on the lanai and realized that we had a view of our house on Pacific Heights.  Here is what we saw.

Zoomed in a little

At 30x optical zoom on my pocket camera...You can see our cottage partially hidden by the Mango tree.

A spectacular view of the sunset

The sun appears to be melting into the ocean

Nearly everyone networking out on the Plumeria patio, stopped their conversations and got out their cameras to capture the beautiful sunset view.

A bee scoping out the xxxx.

Millipedes may look intriguing with all their legs, but they are a pesky nuisance in HI.

The 10/4 sunset offered very minimal color with dramatic clouds and slight pink backlighting hints.
